THE RELATIONSHIP OF FAMILY SUPPORT WITH MOTIVATION FOR PARTICIPATION IN POSYANDU FOR THE ELDERLY

At the Posyandu for the Elderly in Ngumpul Village, Balong District

As a person ages, various types of physical degradation and health problems can occur. Community health center program services such as elderly posyandu have been established, but many elderly people do not attend elderly posyandu and there is a tendency to be less active in elderly posyandu activities. Family support is very necessary to encourage the interest and willingness of elderly people to participate in elderly posyandu activities. The aim of this research is to analyze the relationship between family support and motivation for participation in posyandu for the elderly at Posyandu for the elderly in Ngumpul Village, Balong District.
The research design used was correlation with a cross sectional approach. The population in this study was all elderly people at the Ngumpul Village Elderly Posyandu, a total of 160 elderly people. The sampling in this study used a purposive sampling technique with a total of 62 elderly respondents. Research variables use independent and dependent variables. The data collection process used a family support and motivation questionnaire with chi-square analysis α (0.05).
Data analysis using the chi-square test showed that 26 respondents (41.9%) had poor family support and 36 respondents (58.1%) had good family support. Meanwhile, 33 respondents (53.2%) had low motivation and 29 respondents (46.8%) had high motivation. The research results showed that the p-value (0.010) < α (0.05), it was concluded that there was a relationship between family support and motivation for participation in posyandu for the elderly at Posyandu for the elderly in Ngumpul Village, Balong District.
The results of the research conducted need to be maintained and improved in family support for the elderly so that the elderly are motivated to be active in participating in elderly posyandu.
