THE EFFECT OF EDUCATION ON HANDLING EMERGENCIES
OF CHOKING ON TODDLER MOTHER'S KNOWLEDGE
At the Posyandu for Toddlers in Danyang Hamlet, Sukosari Village, Ponorogo

Choking is the most common problem in the toddler age group. Choking is an emergency case of airway obstruction by a foreign object, either totally or partially, causing a condition of lack of oxygen (hypoxia) which if not treated immediately can lead to death. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of education on handling emergency choking in toddlers on the knowledge of mothers at the toddler posyandu in Danyang Hamlet, Sukosari Village using booklet media and demonstration methods.
This study used an experimental one group pre-post test method. A sample of 25 toddler mothers at the toddler health post in Danyang Hamlet met the criteria. Knowledge measurement used a questionnaire and data analysis techniques used the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test.
The results of the study showed that the knowledge of respondents before education was carried out, namely 9 respondents had good knowledge, 12 respondents had sufficient knowledge, and 4 respondents had insufficient knowledge. After education, namely 19 respondents had good knowledge, and 6 respondents had sufficient knowledge. Based on the results of the Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test, the p-value is 0.000 <0.05, meaning that H0 is rejected, H1 is accepted or in other words, there is an effect of providing health education on handling choking emergencies in toddlers on maternal knowledge. This study can be concluded that health education is an intervention that provides significant results and has an impact on maternal knowledge in handling choking in toddlers.
