THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN ONLINE GAMBLING BEHAVIOR AND MENTAL HEALTH IN ADOLESCENTS

Online gambling is increasingly popular among adolescents, which may negatively affect their mental health. This study aims to explore the relationship between online gambling behavior and mental health in adolescents.
This study used a cross-sectional design with a sample of 30 adolescents aged 18-25 years. Data was collected through a questionnaire that included online gambling frequency and mental health symptoms such as anxiety, depression, and stress. Data analysis was conducted using the Chi-square test.
The results of the analysis showed that there was a significant positive relationship between the frequency of online gambling behavior and mental health in adolescents with the result (p = 0.005 < α = 0.05). Adolescents who frequently engage in online gambling tend to have higher levels of anxiety, depression, and stress.
These findings suggest that online gambling behavior has a negative impact on adolescents' mental health. It is important to raise awareness of the risks of online gambling and provide appropriate interventions to prevent and address online gambling-related mental health problems in adolescents.
