Broiler farming in Indonesia has great potential in meeting animal protein needs, however the high ammonia content of chicken manure can cause health problems. Knowledge and good bahavior are very important to prevent serious problems with the respiratory system due to ammonia exposure. This study aims to determine the relationship between knowledge about the dangers of ammonia and behavior to prevent respiratory disorders among chicken farm workers in Lembeyan District.
The research design uses correlation analytics with a cross-sectional approach, involving 38 respondents selected through total sampling and data collection using a questionnaire. Data analysis was carried out using the Chi-Square Test at a significance level of p-value < 0.05.The results showed that 14 respondents (36.8%) had good knowledge about the dangers of ammonia, while 22 respondents (57.9%) had poor behavior in preventing respiratory disorders.The statistical test produced a P-Value (0.013 < 0.05), indicating a significant relationship between knowledge about the dangers of ammonia and behavior to prevent respiratory disorders.
It is hoped that the results of this research can increase knowledge and behavior to prevent respiratory disorders among chicken farm workers to prevent ARI.
