Abstract

Keywords:Writing Skill, Interview Technique
English consist of four basic skills, they are; writing, listening, writing and reading.
Writing skill is very important in learning a language. The success of writing especially in
second language correctly can be measured through speaking. For example, someone can write
her ideas by practicing writing. Writing as a process of expressing ideas or thoughts in words
should be done at our leisure. Writing can be enjoyable as long as we have the ideas and the
means to achieve it.
We can apply various technique to improve students’ writing skill. One of those is
Interview technique.The purpose of the research is know the implementation of interview
technique to improve students writing skill of the eighth grade students of SMP
Muhammadiyah 2 Ponorogo in academic year 2015/2016.
The Subject of the Classroom Action Research was the students in eighth grade of SMP
Muhammadiyah 2 of Ponorogo in academic year 2015/2016, which consist of 15 students. The
research was started on August 3th, 2015 until August 11th, 2015. This research was conducted
in two cycles, each cycle consisted 2 meetings. The researcher used three research instruments.
There are observation check list, questionnaire, and test.
Based on the result of this research, the implementation of interview technique can
improve students’ writing skill in eighth grade students of SMP Muhammadiyah 2 of
Ponorogo. It was seen from the improvement of the observation checklist, questionnaire, and
students’ test score in two cycle. The observation checklist in cycle 1 was 71.42% increased
became 92.85% in cycle 2. In other side, the students’ questionnaire was 84.80%increased up
to 88.57%. Then, thestudents’ score test success percentage from 40% in cycle 1 increased up
to 100% in cycle 2.
Finally, the researcher gives suggestions to the English teachers that they can use
interview technique in teaching writing as alternative technique in teaching writing. The next
researcher can develop this interview by using various kinds of the media or combining this
technique with other technique to get better result in writing learning process.
