Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus is a metabolic disease characterized by hyperglycemia and
metabolic disorders associated with insufficient insulin secretion. The behavior of
individuals and caregivers does not follow the treatment plan agreed with health
workers, resulting in ineffective treatment results. Nursing care for type 2
diabetes mellitus patients with disturbed sleep patterns is carried out in the
Mawar Room at Dr. RSUD. Harjono Ponorogo for 3 days in June 2024. The aim
of this case study is to provide nursing care to type 2 diabetes mellitus patients
with nursing problems of sleep pattern disorders.
Nursing care for type 2 diabetes mellitus patients with disturbed sleep
patterns is carried out in the Mawar Room at Dr. RSUD. Harjono Ponorogo for 3
days in June 2024. The method used was the nursing process.
The results of the assessment showed that Mr. S had been suffering from type
2 diabetes mellitus for the past 10 years. Mr. S complained that he had not been
able to sleep, the data showed that the patient had disturbed sleep patterns due to
frequent urination at night. The nursing action given for the nursing problem of
sleep pattern disorders in Mr. S was to provide sleep support that had been
adapted to SIKI namely identifying activity and sleep patterns, identifying sleep
disturbing factors, and carrying out progressive muscle relaxation. The results of
the evaluation of nursing actions were obtained for Mr. S with disturbed sleep
patterns by means of sleep support so that the problem was resolved because the
patient's condition had begun to improve. It is recommended that patients be able
to regulate their sleep patterns, regularly comply with their treatment program,
and provide health education.
