Abstract

This research explores the social transformation of inmates at Class I Madiun Penitentiary and the influencing factors based on Minister of Law and Human Rights Regulation No. 35 of 2018. The primary objective is to analyze the social transformation of inmates and its contributing factors, while the secondary objective is to evaluate the effectiveness of rehabilitation programs in fostering the social transformation of inmates within the institution.
Utilizing a normative legal approach, the study focuses on the analysis of relevant legal provisions and legislation. Data is derived from secondary sources, including library books, legal regulations, academic articles, and official documents. The research findings indicate that the social transformation of inmates at Class I Madiun Penitentiary can be achieved through effective rehabilitation programs in accordance with Minister of Law and Human Rights Regulation No. 35 of 2018.
The Free Bachelor's Degree Education Program, Pesantren-Based Education, and Convection Industry Program have proven effective in promoting social transformation. The Free Bachelor's Degree Education Program enhances the educational qualifications of inmates, Pesantren-Based Education strengthens faith and morality, and the Convection Industry empowers the economic aspects of inmates. In conclusion, penitentiary institutions play a crucial role in the social transformation of inmates, and effective rehabilitation programs are key to achieving this goal. Continuous attention and evaluation of these programs are necessary to ensure the sustainability and effectiveness of the social transformation of inmates within penitentiary institutions.
