Abstract

ABSTRACT
This study aims to examine the role of democratic parenting in shaping the social behavior of young children. Democratic parenting, characterized by open communication, appreciation for the child's opinions, and the implementation of consistent yet loving discipline, is believed to foster positive social behavior in children. The research method used is descriptive qualitative, with data collection techniques including observation, interviews, and literature studies. The subjects of the study are children aged 4-6 years in the PKK Sempu Playgroup, as well as their parents and teachers. The results of the study indicate that children raised with democratic parenting tend to have better social skills, such as the ability to interact with peers, share, and understand and appreciate the feelings of others. Additionally, democratic parenting supports the emotional development of children, reflected in increased self-confidence, independence, and responsibility. Factors that support the effectiveness of democratic parenting in shaping children's social behavior include active parental involvement in the child's daily activities, controlled freedom, and effective and empathetic communication between parents and children. This study concludes that democratic parenting plays an important role in shaping positive social behavior in young children and recommends that parents and educators adopt this approach in their daily interactions with children.
