THE EFFECT OF MIRROR THERAPY APPLICATION ON THE IMPROVEMENT OF EXTREMITY MUSCLE STRENGTH IN NON-HEMORRHAGIC STROKE PATIENTS IN THE WORKING AREA OF BLADO 1 COMMUNITY HEALTH CENTER, BATANG REGENCY, CENTRAL JAVA.

Non-hemorrhagic stroke is one of the main causes of disability that often causes weakness in the extremities. One of the rehabilitation therapies used to increase muscle strength is Mirror therapy. This therapy works with the principle of visual illusion that can stimulate the motor area of the brain, thus potentially increasing muscle strength in non-hemorrhagic stroke patients. This study aims to analyze the effect of applying mirror therapy with increasing muscle strength of the extremities in non-hemorrhagic stroke patients in the working area of Blado 1 Health Center, Batang Regency, Central Java. The method used in this study is a quasi-experiment with a pre-test and post-test approach. This therapy is carried out in 2 sessions, in the first session 10 minutes with a 5-minute break and in the second session 10 minutes and a 10-minute break. Mirror therapy is carried out once a day for 7 consecutive days. The population in this study were 12 respondents with non-hemorrhagic stroke. The sampling technique used was consecutive sampling. The results of this study showed that muscle strength before mirror therapy was carried out, namely 12 respondents (100%) had muscle strength in the less category with a score of 1-2. Muscle strength after mirror therapy, namely 8 respondents (66.7%) had sufficient muscle strength with a score of 3 and 4 respondents (33.3%) had poor muscle strength with a score of 2. There is an effect of mirror therapy with increased muscle strength of the extremities in non-hemorrhagic stroke patients (p-value <0.001). The application of mirror therapy has a positive effect on increasing muscle strength of the extremities in non-hemorrhagic stroke patients. This therapy can be used as an additional rehabilitation method to improve the motor function of stroke patients.
