Abstract

ABSRACT
EFFECT OF EDUCATION ABOUT FAMILY CENTERED CARE (FCC)
AGAINST THE ANXIETY OF BABIES' PARENTS
IN THE NICU ROOM OF 'AISYIYAH PONOROGO GENERAL HOSPITAL

Family centered care (FCC) is family-centered care based on the collaborative participation of the family along with a team of health care providers, FCC was found
to improve the well-being of sick babies in neonatal critical care units. This study aims to identify the anxiety of parents of babies before being given education about FCC,
after being given education on FCC, and to analyze the effect of education about FCC on the anxiety of parents of babies in the NICU room at 'Aisyiyah Ponorogo public hospital.
The research method used was quantitative quasi experimental with one group pre-post test design. Anxiety measurement uses the HARS (Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale) questionnaire. The population in this study were 29 parents of babies who were being treated in the NICU room. Data were observed and analyzed using Wilcoxon
The research results showed that before being given education about FCC, the majority of respondents experienced severe anxiety, namely 18 people (58.6%), after being given education about FCC, the anxiety level of parents of babies decreased to mild anxiety, namely 20 respondents (69% ). The results of analysis using the
Wilcoxone test showed a p-value of 0.000 (< 0.05), indicating that there was a relationship between education about FCC and the anxiety level of the baby's parents.
The conclusions from the results of this study provide important implications for hospital management, to develop services using the Family Centered Care (FCC) method to provide comprehensive and integrative care to reduce morbidity and mortality of newborns.
