APPLICATION OF A FOOD WARMER (ELECTRIC LUNCH BOX) IN
PULMONARY TBC (TUBERCULOSIS) PATIENTS WITH NUTRITIONAL
DEFICIT NURSING PROBLEMS
(A Case Study in the Darwis Room at RSU Muhammadiyah Ponorogo)

Pulmonary TB disease is a bacterial infection called Mycobacterium
Tuberculosis which is generally associated with malnutrition in sufferers due to
hypermetabolism, increased respiratory activity, infectious processes and
inflammation. Thus, giving rise to the problem of nutritional deficit nursing. This
case study aims to provide nursing care for pulmonary TB patients with
nutritional deficits.
Nursing care of Mr. R with a medical diagnosis of pulmonary TB was
carried out in the Darwis Room at RSU Muhammadiyah Ponorogo for 5 days on
02 October 2024 – 06 October 2024. The method used was a nursing process
approach.
The results of the assessment showed that the patient had no appetite
accompanied by a bloody cough. Based on the results of the physical examination,
it was found that the patient had lost 2 kg in weight, did not finish eating portions,
was nauseous and had no appetite. Nursing actions taken to overcome the
problem include providing a food warmer (electric lunch box) to increase the
patient's appetite and nutritional intake. The results of the implementation show
that there are changes in nutritional intake for the better, as evidenced by
increased appetite and larger portions of food consumed.
Nursing care for pulmonary TB patients with nutritional problems is
expected to be an illustration for nurses, especially in handling patients who
experience nutritional deficit problems by providing food warmers (electric lunch
boxes) to increase the patient's appetite and nutritional intake.
