Abstract
In process of repairing worn or damaged rails with new ones, it is important to determine the use of effective and safe tools in the rail replacement process, one of which is by using a lifting tool, namely a spreader beam. Spreader beam is tool used in process of lifting loads to providing balance. In this case author will conduct structural strength analysis on spreader beam to lift 12,5 meter and 25 meter long train tracks. The analysis method used is static simulation using the finite element method. The results maximum stress analysis that occurs due to load of 1,5 tons is 65,427 MPa, while at load of 0,75 tons the maximum stress is 32,714 MPa. The deformation that occurred due to the maximum loading (1,5 tons) was 3,40 mm. The spreader beam has a safety factor value is 3,75 due to maximum loading using the yield strength of material. The safety factor is categorized for shock loads.
