RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN ATTITUDE AND MOTIVATION IN PROVIDING FIRST AID FOR TRAFFIC ACCIDENTS AMONG STUDENTS OF THE FACULTY OF HEALTH SCIENCES

Traffic accidents are incidents that can occur at any time and may result in serious consequences such as injuries, health complications, and even death. This study aims to determine the relationship between attitude and motivation in providing first aid for traffic accidents among students of the Faculty of Health Sciences at Universitas Muhammadiyah Ponorogo.
The research employed a quantitative method with a correlational design and a cross-sectional approach. A total of 91 respondents were selected using the proportionate stratified random sampling technique. Data were collected using a questionnaire and analyzed with the Chi-Square test (α < 0.05).
The results showed that the majority of respondents had a negative attitude (54.9%) and high motivation (51.6%). Cross-tabulation revealed that 39.6% of respondents had a negative attitude and low motivation, while only 8.8% had a positive attitude but low motivation. The Chi-Square test produced a p-value of < 0.001, indicating a significant relationship between attitude and motivation in providing first aid for traffic accidents.
In conclusion, there is a relationship between students' attitudes and motivation in providing first aid for traffic accidents at the Faculty of Health Sciences, Universitas Muhammadiyah Ponorogo. A positive attitude tends to enhance motivation, thus efforts to improve both should be supported through continuous education and training programs.
