Abstract
This study analyzes PT Pertamina's financial performance before and after the Covid-19 pandemic using the Trend Series and Common Size methods. The Covid-19 pandemic at the end of 2019 had a significant impact on the global economy, including Indonesia, triggering a decline in economic growth and financial difficulties for many companies.
The sample for this study is PT Pertamina's financial statements for the period 2018 to 2023, covering the period before, during, and after the Covid-19 pandemic. This data is analyzed to evaluate the company's performance and its effectiveness in generating revenue from asset utilization, considering that growth in assets, liabilities, and equity should align with profit growth.
The Trend Series analysis results show fluctuations in PT Pertamina's balance sheet and profit and loss components between 2018 and 2023, with a decline in performance in 2020 and 2021 due to the pandemic, followed by a recovery in 2022 and 2023, indicating sound asset management. Liabilities and equity also increased, but liabilities represented a higher percentage, indicating a reliance on debt financing. Meanwhile, a Common Size analysis revealed that the company's asset management was suboptimal, and its financial condition on the liabilities side was poor due to higher liabilities compared to equity, indicating that the company's operations were funded more by debt than equity. Overall, PT. Pertamina successfully weathered the crisis and demonstrated significant improvements in revenue, profit, liquidity, and operational efficiency in the post-COVID-19 period.
