Abstract

Surina. Traditional Game “Hide and Seek” in Stimulating the Socio-Emotional Skills of Early Childhood Aged 5–6 Years in the Digital Era. Scientific Publication. Early Childhood Teacher Education Study Program, Universitas Muhammadiyah Ponorogo. Supervisor 1: Dian Kristiana, M.Pd., Supervisor 2: Nurtina Irsad Rusdiani, M.Pd.
This article aims to describe and identify the traditional game hide and seek in stimulating the socio-emotional skills of early childhood aged 5–6 years. This study employed a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data collection techniques included observation, interviews, and documentation, involving 15 children from TK B aged 5–6 years at TK Kemala Bhayangkari. Data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing.
The results indicate that the hide and seek game can foster social skills such as cooperation, empathy, and communication, as well as help children regulate their emotions through direct play experiences with peers. Regular practice of this game over one year also showed increased children’s engagement in social activities, along with their ability to express feelings and understand others’ emotions. These findings suggest that despite the current wave of digitalization, traditional games remain relevant and play a significant role in supporting the socio-emotional development of early childhood. Therefore, integrating traditional games into early childhood education programs is essential to balance technological advancement with the holistic developmental needs of children.
