PERAN BUDAYA LITERASI MELALUI MEDIA PEMBELAJARAN BUKU CERITA BERGAMBAR DI SD MUHAMMADIYAH TERPADU PONOROGO

The development of students' reading is greatly influenced by the school's
literacy culture. So it needs interesting learning media. In the case in the field, the read-
ing interest of students at SD Muhammadiyah Terpadu Ponorogo is in the good category.
This is driven by the existence of picture books as a driver of students' reading interest
in SDMT Ponorogo. This research is a case study with data collection techniques ob-
tained by researchers through observation, interviews with teachers and other sources
that aim to analyze the role of school literacy movements on students' reading interest
and character formation. GLS at SDMT has met the criteria for the School Literacy
principle. Picture story books are a medium that plays a role in fostering interest in
reading and writing for lower-classstudents. The development of the literacy movement
at SDMT is classified as creative and visionary in developing students' reading interest,
so it needs to be developed again to support students' cognitive development.
