Abstract
Hallucinatory sensory perception disorder is one of the main symptoms in clients with schizophrenia mental disorder. Hallucinations that are not treated appropriately can affect the client's social response and cognitive function. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of talk therapy in reducing hallucinations in schizophrenia patients at Wijaya Kusuma Ward, RSUD dr. Harjono S. Ponorogo.
The method used was a case study with a nursing care approach, including assessment, diagnosis, implementation, and evaluation. The intervention provided was talk therapy for 7 consecutive days, with each session lasting 60 minutes. The instruments used to measure hallucinations were the Auditory Hallucinations Rating Scale (AHRS) and observation sheets.
The results of the implementation showed a decrease in hallucinations in Mrs. N after being given a talking therapy intervention, as indicated by the observation score increasing from 3 (fail) in the pre-test to 11 (pass) in the post-test, as well as a decrease in the AHRS (Auditory Hallucinations Rating Scale) score from 28 (controlling stage) to 11 (comforting stage). The sensory perception disturbance problem (auditory hallucinations) in Mrs. N was resolved on the fifth day.
Conversational therapy has been shown to help clients recognize, control and respond more adaptively to hallucinations. It can be concluded that conversation therapy is an effective intervention in reducing the intensity and impact of hallucinations in patients with mental disorders.
