APPLICATION OF CHEST PHYSICAL THERAPY (CPT) ON RESPIRATION RATE IN CHRONIC OBSTRUCTIVE PULMONARY DISEASE (COPD) PATIENTS WITH INEFFECTIVE AIRWAYS CLEARANCE NURSING PROBLEMS

(Case Study in the Darwis Room, Ponorogo General Hospital)

Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) can have a detrimental impact on health. This study focused on the application of Chest Physical Therapy (CPT) to address ineffective airway clearance in COPD patients. The primary objective of this study was to assess the effect of CPT on the respiratory rate of patients with COPD.
Care for patients with COPD was conducted in the Darwis Ward of Ponorogo General Hospital for 5 days in July 2025. This study used a case study method to highlight bleeding interventions, including the application of CPT techniques such as postural drainage, percussion, and vibration, designed to increase mucus excretion and improve lung function.
The results showed a respiratory rate of 26 breaths/minute on day 1, decreasing to 16 breaths/minute after day 5. Chest Physical Therapy (CPT) is a non-pharmacological intervention that can reduce symptoms such as dyspnea, sputum production, and wheezing, as well as improve the patient's overall quality of life.
These findings emphasize the importance of Chest Physical Therapy (CPT) as part of a comprehensive treatment strategy, contributing to more effective respiratory management in COPD patients and providing a basis for further improvement in clinical practice.
