Abstract

Uterine myoma is a benign, well-defined, non-encapsulated tumor derived from smooth muscle and fibrous connective tissue. Anxiety arising from uterine myomas before and after surgery is due to increased anxiety, fear, depression, anger, and boredom. The purpose of this scientific paper is to determine the application of nursing care to patients with uterine myomas in addressing anxiety.
Nursing care was provided to a pre-op patient with uterine myomas with anxiety issues from July 1, 2025, to July 3, 2025, at Darmayu Ponorogo General Hospital, Melati Room. The method used in compiling this paper, with a case study design, was a problem-solving method with a nursing process approach.
Based on the assessment results, data obtained showed that Mrs. complained of a feeling of discomfort in her stomach. The patient also expressed confusion when asked whether she was ready for surgery. The patient expressed concern due to her condition. The patient appeared restless, tense, and pale. During the physical examination, the abdomen revealed an enlarged uterus, a palpable lump, and tenderness. The patient reported frequent sleep disturbances due to abdominal discomfort and fear of surgery. The nursing diagnosis was anxiety related to a situational crisis. The primary nursing intervention was non-pharmacological therapy, specifically the Benson relaxation technique, aimed at reducing the client's anxiety. Implementation was carried out over three days, from July 1, 2025, to July 3, 2025, using the non-pharmacological therapy, specifically the Benson relaxation technique. The nursing care provided was aimed at addressing or reducing the client's anxiety. Evaluation was conducted on July 1, 2025, and the nursing problem, anxiety, was resolved. The three-day implementation of the non-pharmacological therapy, specifically the Benson relaxation technique, resulted in the client's anxiety disappearing. Therefore, the client's anxiety was considered resolved.
