Penerapan Terapi Inhalasi Minyak Kayu Putih (Kajuput Oil) Dengan Diffuser Pada Pasien Anak Bronchopneumonia Dengan Masalah Keperawatan Ketidakefektifan Jalan Nafas Di Rumah Sakit Amal Sehat Wonogiri

Bronchopneumonia is an inflammation of the lungs affecting one or more lobes of the lung, characterized by patches of infiltrate caused by bacteria, viruses, or fungi. Bronchopneumonia begins with lung inflammation in the lung tissue or alveoli, usually preceded by an upper respiratory tract infection lasting several days. The germs that cause bronchopneumonia enter the lung tissue through the upper respiratory tract, leading to bronchitis. Then, the germs enter the other alveoli through the Kohn axis, causing inflammation of the bronchial walls or bronchioles and surrounding alveoli. This case study aims to describe the application of eucalyptus oil inhalation therapy (KAJUPUT OIL) with a diffuser in pediatric patients with bronchopneumonia at Amal Sehat Hospital, Wonogiri.
The method used in this case study is a descriptive case study through the stages of nursing care, including assessment, diagnosis, intervention, implementation, and evaluation. Intervention with a diffuser was carried out according to SOP, consisting of exercises in inhaling steam slowly and regularly through the nose and mouth for approximately 30-60 minutes per session throughout the treatment period. This study aims to describe the clinical response without conducting inferential statistical tests and generalizing the results.
The results showed that the patient experienced respiratory distress, with wheezing (+/+) and rhonchi (+/+) being examined. After receiving white Kyu Oil inhalation therapy with a diffuser for approximately 30-60 minutes, there was a decrease in wheezing (-/-) and rhonchi (-/-).
The analysis showed that the diffuser had a positive effect on the nursing problem of airway ineffectiveness. In conclusion, inhalation with a diffuser is a simple, safe, and effective non-pharmacological nursing intervention to improve swallowing ability in pediatric bronchopneumonia patients.
