Abstract

Tourism plays an important role in promoting economic growth and preserving local culture. Ponorogo Regency, which is widely recognized for the traditional Reog performance, has significant cultural tourism potential that can be enhanced through the development of the Reog Monument as a new tourism icon. This study aims to analyze the development of the Reog Monument as a sustainable ecotourism attraction in Ponorogo Regency using a descriptive qualitative research method. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation involving key informants from the Ponorogo Regency Tourism Office, the Head of Sampung Village, local business owners, tourists, and cultural figures. The findings indicate that the Reog Monument has strong potential to become a sustainable tourist attraction by promoting Reog culture while improving the local economy through small businesses, food stalls, and parking services. In addition, local communities actively participate in maintaining cleanliness, organizing the tourism area, and supporting cultural activities and the preservation of local traditions.
