ABSTRACT
This study aims to determine the effect of using standard CDI and non-limiter CDI on engine performance and exhaust emissions of a 160 cc motorcycle using Pertalite-bioethanol fuel blends. The fuel variations used were E0, E10, E20, and E30. The experimental method was employed by testing engine performance using a dynamometer and measuring exhaust emissions using a gas analyzer. The performance parameters included power and torque, while the emission parameters consisted of CO, HC, and CO₂. The results showed that increasing the bioethanol content and using a non-limiter CDI improved engine performance and reduced exhaust emissions. The highest power of 14.16 HP was obtained using the non-limiter CDI with an E30 fuel blend, while the highest torque of 12.99 Nm was obtained using the standard CDI with an E20 fuel blend. In terms of emissions, CO and HC decreased as the bioethanol content increased. The lowest CO emission was 1.41%, while the lowest HC emission was 85 ppm, both obtained using the non-limiter CDI with an E30 fuel blend. Meanwhile, CO₂ emissions tended to increase due to more complete combustion, with the highest value of 2.60% obtained using the non-limiter CDI with an E20 fuel blend. Based on the results, the use of a non-limiter CDI combined with bioethanol fuel has a positive effect on improving engine performance and reducing exhaust emissions compared with the use of standard Pertalite fuel.
