Abstract

Hybrid motorcycles are modified through the addition of various components; however, engine performance remains dependent on the quality of the primary fuel used, particularly its octane rating. This study aims to determine the effect of fuel octane ratings on power, torque, and exhaust emissions. An experimental study employing descriptive analysis was conducted to evaluate these parameters using three fuel variants: Pertalite 90, Pertamax 92, and Pertamax Turbo 98. The results indicate that the highest power output (3.82 hp at 5,750 rpm) was achieved with Pertamax Turbo, while the highest torque (5.84 Nm at 3,500 rpm) was recorded with Pertalite. Regarding exhaust emissions, the highest CO2 level (5.0%) was observed with Pertamax, and the lowest HC level (79 ppm) was recorded with Pertamax Turbo. Consequently, the use of high-octane fuel is recommended to achieve superior, stable performance and lower emissions.
