Abstract
ABSTRACT
RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN KNOWLEDGE ABOUT CERVICAL CANCER PREVENTION AND ATTITUDES TOWARDS HPV VACCINE AMONG ADOLESCENTS AT MTS DARUL FIKRI PONOROGO
By: Putri Widya Rachmawati
Cervical cancer is one of the leading causes of death among women, largely due to Human Papillomavirus (HPV) infection. The HPV vaccine is an effective primary prevention measure for cervical cancer. This study aims to determine the relationship between knowledge of cervical cancer prevention and attitudes toward the HPV vaccine among adolescents at MTS Darul Fikri Ponorogo.
This study used a correlational method with a cross-sectional approach. The sample consisted of 50 second-grade female students, using a total sampling technique. Data were collected using a knowledge and attitude questionnaire, then analyzed univariately and bivariately using Fisher's Exact Test with a significance level of p-value <0.05.
The results showed that 42 respondents (84%) had good knowledge and 8 respondents (16%) had fair knowledge. Forty-four respondents (88%) had a good attitude about the HPV vaccine, and 6 respondents (12%) had a fair attitude. Fisher's exact test showed a p-value of 0.04 < 0.05, indicating a significant relationship between knowledge about cervical cancer prevention and attitudes about the HPV vaccine. These results indicate that the better adolescents' knowledge, the more positive their attitudes toward the HPV vaccine as a cervical cancer prevention measure. This finding supports the theory that increasing knowledge through health education can boost teens’ acceptance of the HPV vaccine as a way to prevent cervical cancer.
