Abstract
Thesis: “The Influence of Education Level, Open Unemployment Rate, and Inflation Rate on the Poverty Rate in East Java (2010–2025)”; Aisyiyah Puspitasari, Student ID 22420764, Development Economics Study Program, Faculty of Economics, Universitas Muhammadiyah Ponorogo.
This study aims to analyze the influence of Education Level (X1), Open Unemployment Rate (X2), and Inflation Rate (X3) on the Poverty Rate (Y) in East Java. Poverty rates are influenced by various economic and social factors. Education plays a crucial role in enhancing the quality of human resources, thereby increasing the community's chances of securing employment and improving welfare. Conversely, a high open unemployment rate can reduce public income and increase the risk of poverty. Separately, inflation can affect public purchasing power, although its impact on poverty rates is not always significant. This study employs a quantitative approach using secondary data—specifically time-series data from 2010 to 2025—obtained from Statistics Indonesia (BPS). Data analysis was conducted using multiple linear regression with the aid of SPSS software. Hypothesis testing involved classical assumption tests, t-tests, F-tests, and the coefficient of determination (R²).
The study concludes that the education level has a negative and significant effect on the poverty rate, while the unemployment rate has a positive and significant effect on the poverty rate in East Java. The inflation rate does not have a significant effect; however, simultaneously, the three variables significantly influence poverty, with education level and open unemployment rate being the dominant factors.
