Abstract
The development of information technology has brought changes to the judicial service system in Indonesia, including the implementation of mediation through electronic means. The implementation of electronic mediation is one form of judicial innovation aimed at providing convenience, accelerating the resolution of cases, and supporting the realization of the principles of simple, speedy, and low-cost justice. In divorce cases, mediation plays an important role as an effort to reconcile the parties before the examination of the case proceeds. Therefore, the implementation of electronic mediation needs to be examined to determine its compliance with applicable legal provisions and to assess its effectiveness. This study aims to analyze the compliance of electronic mediation conducted through online platforms in Case Number 467/Pdt.G/2025/PA.Po at the Ponorogo Religious Court with the principles of simple, speedy, and low-cost justice, as well as to analyze the effectiveness of electronic mediation in the case. This study employs an empirical legal research method with a qualitative approach. Primary data were obtained through interviews with mediators at the Ponorogo Religious Court and case documentation, while secondary data were obtained from laws and regulations, books, scientific journals, and literature related to electronic mediation. The data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive analysis model, consisting of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results show that the implementation of electronic mediation in Case Number 467/Pdt.G/2025/PA.Po was carried out in accordance with the provisions of the Supreme Court Regulation concerning mediation procedures in courts and supported the application of the principles of simple, speedy, and low-cost justice. The use of online platforms provided convenience for the parties to participate in the mediation process without having to be physically present at the court, making the time and costs incurred more efficient. Based on an analysis using the theory of legal effectiveness, the implementation of electronic mediation at the Ponorogo Religious Court was considered effective. This effectiveness was supported by a clear legal basis, mediator competence, adequate facilities and infrastructure, and cooperation between the parties throughout the mediation process. In the case examined, the mediation successfully resulted in a settlement, with the parties agreeing to maintain their marriage and discontinue the divorce proceedings. This condition demonstrates that electronic mediation not only provides administrative convenience but is also capable of achieving the primary objective of mediation, namely reaching reconciliation. Nevertheless, the implementation of electronic mediation still requires support through improvements in the quality of information technology facilities, maintenance of stable internet connectivity, and increased understanding among the parties regarding the use of electronic media so that the mediation process can be carried out optimally. With these improvements, electronic mediation is expected to further support the modernization of the judicial system and improve the quality of public services. Overall, this study concludes that the implementation of electronic mediation through online platforms in Case Number 467/Pdt.G/2025/PA.Po at the Ponorogo Religious Court is in accordance with the principles of simple, speedy, and low-cost justice and has been effectively implemented in assisting dispute resolution through reconciliation. The findings of this study are expected to serve as evaluation material for Religious Courts and as a reference for future research on the development of electronic mediation within the Indonesian judicial system
