Abstract
Society often views and treats persons with disabilities of visual impairment
inappropriately. This inappropriate treatment is the reason for the researcher to research this
topic, with the hope that the community will be educated and will then be able to provide
appropriate assistance or services so that people with visual impairments are psychologically
more comfortable and functio nally able to be independent. This study aims to examine
personality development of blind children at LKSA Tunanetra Terpadu 'Aisyiyah Ponorogo in
terms of self confidence and self esteem.
This research is a descriptive research which will describe comprehensively the
findings of the LKSA Tunanetra Terpadu 'Aisyiyah Ponorogo. Primary data were obtained from
the Head of LKSA, the management and foster children of LKSA, while secondary data were
taken from supporting documents. Technique of collecting data through interviews, observation
and documentation, using qualitative analysis techniques. The data analysis is carried out
interactively and continued until completion until data saturation is achieved. The data is then
processed with Miles & Huberman's model, namely: data reduction, data display, and
conclusion drawing / verification.
There are childeren with low self-confidence and low self-esteem as well as children
with high self-confidence and high self-esteem in LKSA Tunanetra Terpadu 'Aisyiyah Ponorogo.
There are many services that have been carried out by LKSA administrators to improve
personality development by using educational analysis on self-confidence and self-esteem of
foster children in this LKSA, including providing formal education. In addition, the orphanage
also monitors personality development through nurturing, children's health development
through the health sector, children's achievement and education through education, talents and
creativity through giftedness, and discipline in carrying out worship. After getting these services,
self-confidence and self-esteem of the foster children increased, which was indicated by their
self-confidence, being able to get along with other friends, increasing their achievement and
being more independent.
