MURRAY EDELMAN FRAMING ANALYSIS
IN THE FILM KINIPAN SCENE CHAPTER 6 COMMUNITY CONFLICT

This study discusses the phenomena that occur, namely about environmental problems, the existence of conflicts between indigenous peoples and restoration companies in the Kinipan film. Kinipan film is a film produced by Watchdoc Documentary, this film raises about how deforestation occurs, namely the condition of natural damage caused by clearing activities of forest land to be converted, after the forest is damaged there are government-style ecosystem restoration efforts which are considered inappropriate because they often overlap with culture. The focus of research in this thesis is how the categorization, rubrication and ideology are constructed in the scene chapter 6 of the conflict between indigenous peoples and restoration companies in the Kinipan film. This study uses the Murray Edelman model framing analysis method using a qualitative descriptive approach. This analysis is used to understand and describe how the categorization, rubrication and ideology are in the construction of the film. The results showed that the framing done by Watchdoc's media on the Kinipan film, the categorization found refers to social discourse, so the rubrication constructed by Watchdoc is emphasized in the rubric of the social environment. Watchdoc as a media that uses the ideology of advocacy journalism takes on its ideological role by incorporating its side with the community by highlighting the issue of social injustice and criticizing forest restoration initiated by the government and companies which are considered inappropriate.
