Abstract

ABSTRACT

Surgery in patients with appendicitis who do not get proper treatment will cause complications that may increase the risk of infection in the surgical wound. To prevent infection from occurring in the wound, it is necessary for the patient to have an active role in maintaining personal hygiene, early mobilization and fulfilling nutritional needs during the recovery period. The purpose of this case study is to find out nursing care in postoperative adult patients with appendicitis with nursing problems at risk of infection.
Nursing care with post-operative appendicitis with nursing problems at risk of infection was carried out in the Flamboyant Room, RSUD Dr. Harjono for 7 days. The method used is the nursing process approach.
The results of the study obtained data that Mrs. U complains of pain, stinging, and heat in the surgical wound with a pain scale of 3, nausea and vomiting when eating rice. In addition, there is also redness in the area around the incision wound. Nursing actions taken to overcome the problem include providing wound care, providing health education about signs and symptoms of infection, how to properly wash hands and check wound conditions, as well as how to increase nutritional intake and collaboration pharmacological therapy.
The results of the evaluation of nursing actions performed on Ny. U with the problem of risk of infection has been resolved. This is evidenced by complaints of decreased pain, redness is gone, and increased appetite. Evaluation has been carried out according to the patient's condition.
