Abstract

Bullying is an aggressive act, both physically and verbally, carried out by an individual. Bullying itself can affect the psychosocial development of a teenager where that age is the age of growth and development that should get a positive stimulus. This study aims to determine the relationship between bullying and the psychosocial development of students of SMPN 2 Kawedanan Magetan. This study uses quantitative design with a cross sectional approach. The population in this study were students of SMPN 2 Kawedanan grade 8 totaling 95 respondents. The number of samples in this study was 48 respondents taken by simple random sampling. Data collection is taken by questionnaires. The data were analyzed with the Chi-Square test with α significance level of < 0.05. The results of the study of 48 respondents showed that respondents who received low bullying actions were 28 respondents (58.3%) and high bullying was 20 respondents (41.7%), while psychosocial development was 29 respondents (60.4%) had good psychosocial development and 19 respondents (39.6%) had poor psychosocial development. Based on statistical tests, a p value of 0.002 (p<0.05) was obtained. From this study, it was concluded that there is a relationship between bullying and the psychosocial development of adolescents at SMPN 2 Kawedanan Magetan. Psychosocial development is not only influenced by the existence of accepted acts of bullying, but rather the result of other factors such as peers and how their family is doing. The results of the study are expected to provide education about the adverse effects of bullying.
