Abstract
ANDRY NABILLA FEBRYANZA: Analysis of Student Errors in Solving Absolute Value Equations and Inequality Problems Based on Polya Theory. Thesis. Ponorogo: Mathematics Education Study Program, University of Muhammadiyah Ponorogo, 2022. Error analysis in this study is to find out the errors made by students in solving absolute value equations and inequalities based on Polya's theory. This study was seen from the number of students who still made mistakes in solving absolute value equations and inequalities. This research aims to determine the types of errors made by students in solving absolute value equations and inequalities based on Polya's theory. This research is a qualitative descriptive study. The subjects in this study were students of X in SMAN 1 Babadan. Data collection was carried out by test and interview methods. Written tests are used to find out errors made by students in solving absolute value equations and inequalities. Interview tests are used to confirm the students answers. The results of the research showed that there is no subjects dis misunderstood the problem. As for the mistakes made by the subject including in the steps of making plans, implementing plans, and recheck answers. In the planning error, the subject did mistake in the lack of knowledge about the material equations and inequalities of value absolute. While the error in carrying out the plan was carried out by the subject, namely less understandinh in the preparation of plans will result in errors in carry out the plan. In the step of rechecking the answers, it can be seen from interview method. Where all research subjects do not take steps to check return answer.
