Abstract
Postpartum mothers are not all able to cope with postpartum adaptation, in fact some mothers cannot adjust to their circumstances. A woman in the postpartum period needs to adjust as a mother and a wife. Some adjustments are needed by a mother in facing her new activities and role as a mother. Some women manage to adjust well, but others do not manage to adjust and experience psychological changes that cause stress and develop into baby blues. This study aims to determine the relationship of parity with the incidence of baby blues in postpartum mothers at RSU Muhammadiyah Ponorogo. This study used the cross sectional method. The population in this study was 123 postpartum mothers with a sample of 40 postpartum mothers taken using the consecutive sampling method conducted on May 19 – June 1, 2023. The instrument in this study used the EPDS (edinburgh postpartum depression scale) questionnaire. The data analysis used in this study used univariate and bivariate analysis with chi square test. The results of this study showed that p value = 0.002 < α 0.05 which means there is a parity relationship with the incidence of baby blues in postpartum mothers at RSU Muhammadiyah Ponorogo. From this research, it is expected to be input for families of postpartum mothers, especially primiparous mothers, to always support both physically and psychologically, besides that nurses are expected to play a role in providing education to pregnant women so that they are physically and psychologically ready to face postpartum.
