Abstract
The Hizbul Wathan Scouting movement is a scouting initiative within the Muhammadiyah organization aimed at shaping the character of children, adolescents, and young people through engaging methods in the great outdoors. The implementation of Hizbul Wathan Scouting at MI Muhammadiyah Ponorogo is heavily influenced by the methods employed by teachers and mentors. Therefore, the researcher intends to investigate the implementation of Hizbul Wathan Scouting applied at MI Muhammadiyah Ponorogo. The objectives of this research are to understand the implementation, outcomes, supporting factors, and obstacles of Hizbul Wathan Scouting in instilling leadership values in the students of MI Muhammadiyah Ponorogo. This study employs qualitative research conducted at MI Muhammadiyah Ponorogo as the research subject. Data collection techniques include observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis utilizes descriptive analysis and incorporates Thomas Lickona's Character Education theory. The findings of this research are as follows: The implementation of Hizbul Wathan Scouting in instilling leadership values in MI Muhammadiyah Ponorogo students follows three stages of character education: Leadership Knowing, Leadership Feeling, and Leadership Acting. The implementation successfully instills leadership character in students. Teachers employ highly effective methods with varying emphasis and guidance at each level. They apply approaches such as love, motivation, and competition to build leadership character. Additionally, they utilize methods like firmness, consistency, and role modeling. Hizbul Wathan Scouting activities not only provide leadership knowledge and feelings but also educate leadership actions through rewards, punishments, and consistency in acting as leaders. The implementation follows the Hizbul Wathan Scouting Code. The results of implementing Hizbul Wathan Scouting in instilling democratic leadership values in MI Muhammadiyah Ponorogo students include fostering responsibility, cooperation, role modeling, creativity, effective communication, and social sensitivity within the school. Supporting factors are marked by school policies, facilities, parental support, and the demeanor of teachers and mentors. However, obstacles include mentors pursuing undergraduate degrees (S1) and occasionally dealing with unruly children.
