Abstract
Pondok regulations are policies that have been prepared by the pondok so that education takes place systematically so as to achieve the desired goals. However, there are still many regulations that have not worked effectively, marked by the presence of students who smoke, leave without permission, carry cell phones, do not pray in congregation, and use local languages in communicating. Discipline is an attitude of appreciating and respecting a rule that applies both written and unwritten. The aims and focus of this research were carried out to: (1) to describe how efforts to educate students in improving the discipline of grade 5 KMI students. (2) to describe how the role of nurturing students in improving the discipline of class 5 KMI students. (3) to describe how the supporting and inhibiting factors in improving the discipline of class 5 KMI students. The method in this study is a qualitative descriptive design. Data collection was carried out by conducting interviews with 9 informants, observing and documenting, and using the data analysis method from Miles Huberman which includes data collection, data reduction, data presentation then conclusions to find good results. The results showed that: (1) efforts to raise students in improving student discipline, namely by being an example for students, evaluating students, supervising students, and reminding students not to violate discipline. (2) the role of parenting students is as the main coordinator for carrying out student discipline, their job is to govern, supervise, evaluate, and understand students about student discipline, remind students who make mistakes, and act as intermediaries on both sides and not defend one another, and provide life motivation to improve discipline and be able to become a good person for the future. (3) the supporting factors are adequate boarding facilities and strict boarding rules. When we give punishments to students and students can accept or arrest them in an adult manner, they are adults and already understand, the inhibiting factor is that there are students who violate and are law and he feels that people who violate discipline the most when given a punishment there are students who do not accept and do not agree with each other.
