Abstract

NIKEN SITORESMI WULANDARI: Penerapan Model Pembelajaran Project Based Learning dengan Scaffolding untuk Meningkatkan Kemampuan Pemecahan Masalah Matematika Siswa Kelas X SMK Al-Islam Joresan. Thesis, Ponorogo: Mathematics Education Study Program, Muhammadiyah University Ponorogo, 2023. This study aims to describe the application of learning model project based learning with scaffolding which can improve the math problem solving abilities of class X students of SMK Al-Islam Joresan. Where the ability to solve problems is included in the NCTM standard and every student is required to have the ability to solve mathematical problems. This research is a class action research (CAR) which was conducted in 2 cycles consisting of two meetings in each cycle. The subjects in this study were class X students of SMK Al-Islam Joresan in the 2022/2023 academic year. The instruments used to collect data include observation sheets on the implementation of teacher learning and observation of student activities, as well as tests. The research was carried out with the steps of introducing the teacher's problem, preparing the design project. The teacher divides students into several groups and compiles a work plan in the form of a timeline and deadline solution project. Students begin to discuss working on projects with the teacher who always monitors student work and provides scaffolding for environmental provisions, explaining, reviewing, restructuring, and developing conceptual thinking. After the project is finished, the students present the results and the teacher gives an evaluation and reflection. The results of the research conducted, namely in the first cycle, the results of tests of students' mathematical problem solving abilities showed that 3 students achieved success indicators with good criteria. Improvements were made in cycle II with test results showing that 24 students had achieved success indicators with good and very good criteria. While the results of observations of the implementation of learning by the teacher for cycle I meetings one and two were 83.3% and 87.5%, these results increased in cycle II meetings one and two to 95.8% and 100%. For the results of observing student activity for cycle I at meetings one and two by 72% and 76%, these results increased in cycle II meetings one and two by 84% and 92% with very good categories. Therefore, the application of learning model project based learning with scaffolding this can improve students' math problem solving abilities.
