Abstract
ABSTRACT EFFECT OF LAVENDER AROMATHERAPY AGAINST POST OPERATIVE NAUSEA AND VOMITING (PONV) One group pretest-posttest design research at RSU Darmayu Ponorogo By: Hanifah Sahar Post Operating Nausea and Vomiting (PONV) is one of the most common side effects of undergoing surgery, giving lavender aromatherapy can reduce these side effects. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of giving lavender aromatherapy on nausea and vomiting (PONV) in caesarean section patients in the recovery room at the "Darmayu" General Hospital, Ponorogo. The type of research is one group pretest-posttest design. The research sample consisted of 23 respondents, using a purposive sampling method. Data collection used the RINVR questionnaire to measure nausea and vomiting. This research uses the Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test statistical test. The research results showed that 3 respondents (13%) experienced severe nausea and vomiting, 3 respondents (13%) experienced moderate nausea and vomiting, 17 respondents (73.9%) experienced mild nausea and vomiting. After administering lavender aromatherapy, this figure decreased to 2 respondents (8.7%) who did not experience nausea and vomiting, 5 respondents (21.7%) experienced moderate nausea and vomiting, and 16 respondents (69.6%) experienced mild nausea and vomiting. The statistical test results show that the p value is 0.000 (≤ 0.05), which means that there is an effect of giving lavender aromatherapy on nausea and vomiting (PONV) in caesarean section patients. Nurses can play an active role in dealing with nausea and vomiting by providing non-pharmacological therapy with lavender aromatherapy.
