Abstract

ABSTRACT Relationship between Sitting Position and Laptop Use Complaints of Low Back Pain (LBP) in Students of the Faculty of Health Sciences Muhammadiyah University of Ponorogo Nur Apriliani Insan Choirulloh Faculty of Health Sciences Muhammadiyah University of Ponorogo A sitting position with a forward tilt of 70o followed by sitting in an upright position of 90o can result in discomfort felt by the body which is a symptom of low back pain. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between sitting position and laptop use with complaints of low back pain. This research uses an observational research type using a cross sectional approach. The population in the study were all students of the Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Muhammadiyah Ponorogo. The number of samples was 106. Sampling was taken using proportional random sampling technique. Collecting data using observation sheets and questionnaires. Data analysis uses Chi Square with value of ɑ (0.05). The results of the study from 106 student respondents there were 73 respondents (68.9%) with an ergonomic sitting position while 33 respondents (31.1%) with a non-ergonomic sitting position. There were 67 respondents (63.2%) with complaints of no pain and 39 respondents (36.8%) with complaints of pain. Test the hypothesis using Chi Square with a p-value of 0.000. There is a relationship between the sitting position of laptop use and complaints of low back pain in students of the Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Muhammadiyah Ponorogo. Students with non-ergonomic sitting positions when using laptops are one of the factors for low back pain complaints, so respondents are expected to be able to prevent low back pain complaints by applying ergonomic positions and stretching when using laptops.
