Abstract

Pulmonary tuberculosis is still a serious problem in the world where management must be programmed. An obstacle in managing tuberculosis is the low compliance of tuberculosis patients in carrying out routine control during the treatment period, resulting in failure of the pulmonary tuberculosis treatment program. This study aims to determine the relationship between level of knowledge and compliance with routine control in pulmonary tuberculosis patients. This study used a correlational descriptive method with a cross-sectional approach to 32 pulmonary tuberculosis patients who were being treated for pulmonary tuberculosis in Plaosan District. The sampling technique uses total sampling. The instruments in this research used a questionnaire, crosscheck TB 01 and TB 02, and interviews with the PMO. Data were processed and analyzed using the Spearman Rank statistical test. The research results showed that 19 respondents (59,4 %) had a good level of knowledge and 25 respondents (78 %)were compliant. The results of the Spearman rank statistical test show a p value = 0.001 with a correlation coefficient of 0.543. This value shows p<0.05, where the level of knowledge has a significantly strong relationship with compliance with routine pulmonary tuberculosis control. This research shows that the better the level of knowledge, the more compliant they will be in carrying out routine control in tuberculosis therapy. It is hoped that health workers can collaborate to build good partnerships to provide adequate health education for sufferers, especially regarding the importance of compliance in undergoing therapy and provide understanding to patient families about the need for positive support regarding patient compliance in treatment.
