Abstract

ANALYSIS OF PHOTOJOURNALISM WITH THE EDFAT APPROACH REGARDING THE ARREST OF MINISTER OF AGRICULTURE SYAHRUL YASIN LIMPO IN KUMPARAN MEDIA ON OCTOBER 13, 2023, AND ANTARA NEWS ON OCTOBER 12, 2023. LUTHFAN FADHLIL WAFI 20240798 This thesis is titled Analysis of Photojournalism with the EDFAT Approach regarding the Arrest of Minister of Agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo in Kumparan Media on October 13, 2023, and Antara News on October 12, 2023. The aim of this research is to understand how photographers use the right moment to capture an event so that the meaning in journalistic photographs aligns with the content of the news. This research uses a qualitative descriptive approach with the EDFAT (Entire, Detail, Frame, Angle & Time) method to identify and compare the visual aspects in the photos published by the two media. Data were collected through interviews with sources and direct observation of the published photos and related documentation. The analysis includes image composition, important details, photo frames, shooting angles, and shooting times. Based on the analysis of the journalistic photos from both media, it can be concluded that photography must be able to convey a story through images. Photojournalists are not only required to produce aesthetically pleasing photos but also to accurately and informatively tell an event through their photos. The journalistic photos produced can help news readers or viewers gain clear information so that they do not misunderstand the content of the news.
