Abstract
One type of emergency that can occur at home is febrile seizures. Often parents do not know what febrile seizures are, what causes them, or how to treat them properly, causing emergency care errors in children. The purpose of this study was to determine whether there is an effect of health education demonstration method on parents' knowledge in handling febrile seizures emergencies in children. Using the quasy-experiment method one group pre-test post-test. In this study, 54 respondents were mothers of toddlers in the Pulung Health Center Working Area. With Total Sampling technique, analyzed using Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test Asymp.sig> 0.05. The research of the study before being given health education on emergency handling of febrile seizures in children, obtained respondents with poor knowledge as many as 46 respondents (85.2%), sufficient knowledge as many as 8 respondents (14.8%), after being given health education obtained respondents with good knowledge as many as 38 respondents (70.4%), sufficient knowledge as many as 15 respondents (27.8%), and poor knowledge 1 respondent (1.9%). Results of the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test statistical test obtained a P-Value of 0.000 <0.05. There is an effect of health education with demonstration methods in handling febrile seizures emergencies in children on parental knowledge in the Pulung Health Center Working Area. Discussion of this study is that health education in handling febrile seizures emergencies using the demonstration method can improve parents' knowledge in handling febrile seizures emergencies in children. For parents who have children with febrile seizures to be able to increase knowledge about febrile seizures in children and apply the knowledge they have so that when children experience febrile seizures, appropriate emergency treatment can be carried out.
