Abstract

ABSTRACT THE RELATIONS BETWEEN KNOWLEDGE AND PREVENTIVE BEHAVIOR OF DIABETES MELLITUS EMERGENCY ON HYPERGLYCEMIA'S CRISIS AT THE INTERNAL MEDICINE CLINIC RSUD Dr. HARJONO PONOROGO Inta Dyah Setyowati Faculty of Health Sciences, Muhammadiyah Ponorogo University Email: intadyah12@gmail.com The emergency situation for Diabetes Mellitus patients is a life-threatening condition related to acute complications of Diabetes Mellitus, so it requires immediate and appropriate treatment. Clients who have sufficient knowledge and understanding about Diabetes Mellitus will be more likely to comply with the principles of care, blood glucose management and can be motivated to increase preventive behavior to prevent the occurrence of Diabetes Mellitus. This study aims to analyze the relationship between knowledge and behavior in preventing Diabetes Mellitus hyperglycemia crisis at the Internal Medicine Polyclinic at Dr. RSUD. Harjono Ponorogo. This research uses a correlation design with a cross sectional approach. The population in this study was 4,110 patients at RSUD Dr. Harjono Ponorogo. The research sample was 97 respondents with sampling using purposive sampling technique. Data was collected using a questionnaire and data analysis using the Spearman Rank method. The results of this research show that the majority of respondents' knowledge characteristics have good knowledge, 44 respondents (45%) and the majority of respondents' behavioral characteristics have good behavior, 39 respondents (40%). The results of the Spearman Rank statistical test obtained a p value of 0.000 using a significance level of α = 0.05 (p<0.05), indicating that there is a relationship between knowledge and behavior in preventing the emergency Diabetes Mellitus Hyperglycemia Crisis at the Internal Medicine Clinic, Dr. Harjono Ponorogo. It is hoped that patients can increase their knowledge of DM disease and can be motivated to increase behavior to prevent the occurrence of DM and the risk of complications it causes.
