Abstract

Key words : Speaking Skill, Ask and Answer Technique Speakng is a productive skill in learning language that consist of producing systematic verbal utterance to convey meaning. Speaking is a way to show the intention through spoken words. Speaking is one of the most difficult aspect for students to master. This is hardly surprising when one considers everything that is involved when speaking: ideas, what to say, language, how to use grammar and vocabulary, pronounciation as well as listening to and reacting to the person who are communicating with. In teching speaking, the teacher can use suitable technique to improve students’ competence in speaking. The technique is Ask And Answer Technique. Ask and Annswer Technique is a learning tecnique which advocates the students to do active talk with other according to the pictures, texts, or the topics. The statement of the problem of this research is How does The implementation of Ask and Answer technique improve students’ speaking skill at the tenth grade of SMK Muhammadiyah 1 Ponorogo in 2015/ 2016 academic year especially AV/ TKJ class which consist of 20 students. The research was started on August 5th, 2015 until 25th 2015. This research was conducted in two cycles. The researcher used three research instruments, they were observation check list, questionnaire, and test. Based on the result of this research, the implementation of Ask and Answer technique could improve students’ speaking skill at the tenth grade stdents of SMK Muhammadiyah 1 Ponorogo, it was seen from increasing obseservation result from 65% in cycle I to 100% in cycle II it was very active. In questionnaire could increase the result from 76.12% in cycle I to 79.12% in cycle II it was good. In the test the improvement of percentage of students score from 50% in cycle I up to 100% in cycle II or all of the students got score ≥75, it was fulfiil the KKM of SMK Muhammadiyah 1 Ponorogo. Finnaly, the researcher gives suggestion that English teacher can use Ask and Answer Technique as an alternative method in teaching speaking. The next researcher can develop this method.
