Abstract
This study examines the role of the Women's Farming Groups (KWT) in the Sustainable Food Garden Program (P2L) in Ponorogo Regency to improve family economic welfare. P2L aims to increase availability, accessibility, utilization, and income through the use of vacant and non-productive land. According to Law No. 18 of 2012 on Food, the state must ensure the availability, affordability, and fulfillment of safe and nutritious food consumption. P2L is implemented through sustainable agriculture approaches, local resource utilization, community empowerment, and market orientation, involving four main components: seed nurseries, demonstration plots, planting, and post-harvest and marketing. This study identifies that community empowerment involves six indicators: better institution, better business, better income, better environment, better living, and better community. The research was conducted in Patihan Wetan Village, Polorejo Village, and Sukosari Village, Babadan District, Ponorogo Regency. These locations were chosen because they have active KWTs involved in P2L, allowing researchers to directly observe the program implementation and its impact on family economic welfare. The results show that P2L provides positive benefits in terms of institutional, business, income, environmental, living, and community aspects. The program helps reduce expenses and improve the quality of life of KWT members, as well as strengthen community cohesion and solidarity. Although some KWT members feel that their income from agricultural activities has not significantly increased, the program plays an important role in fulfilling food and nutritional needs and increasing productive income.
