Abstract

Information is an essential component of human life that can be conveyed in various forms such as speech, writing, images, or videos. To enhance the presentation of information, a running text display becomes an effective solution. Currently, running text control systems can be operated through remote control, computers, and smartphone applications. However, there are challenges in remote control and the use of complex and difficult-to-understand control systems. Based on these issues, the author came up with the idea to conduct research titled “Design and Development of a Remote-Controlled Running Text System Using NodeMCU”. This research aims to develop a remote-controlled running text system utilizing NodeMCU ESP8266 as the microcontroller and long-distance communication module1. NodeMCU receives commands from a web-based user interface developed using Node-RED software. These commands are then processed into messages to be displayed on the running text display. The signal sent from NodeMCU is amplified with an IC 74LVC245 to prevent data loss2. After the message is displayed, the system sends real-time notifications via a Telegram bot to inform that the message has been successfully displayed or if an error occurs. The research results show that the developed running text control system can change text from any location without distance limitations, provided there is an internet connection for both the sender and receiver. The time required to receive the sent data is relatively fast, with an average reception time of less than 1 second and a data transmission accuracy of 100%. This system also allows the display of text up to 500 characters and is equipped with real-time notifications using a Telegram bot to monitor the system status and sent data.
