Abstract

Key Terms: Writing skill, In The Here And Now Strategy English is an International language which is very important to be mastered. Writing is a language skill which is expressed in written form. There were some difficulties that were faced by the students of class X A Teknik Otomotif. SMK Darul Fikri Bringin Kauman Ponorogo students can not write well because they have limited knowledge in English grammar and vocabulary. To improve writing skill the students should have enthusiasm in learning English and know the correct writing process as well. In teaching writing, we use the strategy that could be applied in the class. The strategy was Writing In The Here And Now” Strategy. The teaching writing through the use Writing In The Here And Now” Strategy motivated students to write confident. This research is about how Writing In The Here And Now Strategy improve students’ writing skill at the tenth grade of Darul Fikri Bringin Ponorogo in the academic year of 2015-2016. The subject of this classroom action research was the tenth grade students of SMK Darul Fikri Bringin Kauman Bringin Ponorogo in the academic year of 2015-2016, especially class X A Teknik Otomotif which consisted of 21 students. The research was started on 10 February, 2016 until 19 February 2016. This research was conducted in two cycles. There were three research instruments that were used in this research. They were observation checklist, questionnaire, and test. There was an improvement between the first cycle and the second cycle. It could be seen from the improvement of average of students’ score from 52.38% in cycle 1 up to 100 % in cycle II. The questionnaire result showed that students had more knowledge and had enthusiasm to learn so they became more enjoy and active during teaching and learning process. Finally, through the result of this research, it was concluded that by The Use Writing In The Here And Now Strategy To Improve Students’ Writing Ability, the students writing skill could be improve. Then, the researcher suggest that English teachers can use writing in The Here And Now strategy in teaching writing in the class.
