Abstract

Key Words: Writing skill, Analytical Exposition text, Freewriting Method English, in this globalization era, is used as business language, international language, and employee recruitment in international company. One of the most important skills in English is writing. Through writing, the people can inform others, carry out transactions, persuade, and tell what they feel. In educational setting, writing has been known as written idea. Students should be encouraged to express their idea, experience, thought, and feeling. Based on pre observation, the researcher got some problems in the teaching writing skill at SMA Negeri 1 Badegan such as the students struggle to develop their ideas fluently, because they use too much consideration before they write down their main idea on the paper, they are afraid to make some mistakes in spelling or grammar structure, and they corrected it at the same time they write. the students score in writing was low. The purposes of the study of this research were: 1) To describe the implementation of Freewriting Method improve students’ ability in writing analytical exposition text at the eleventh grade of SMA Negeri 1 Badegan in the 2015/2016 academic year. 2) To find out whether the Freewriting method improves students’ ability in writing analytical exposition text at the second grade of SMA Negeri 1 Badegan in the 2015/2016 academic year. The subject of this research was the students of the Second grade class XI IPA 1 of SMA Negeri 1 Badegan in the 2015/2016 academic year, which consisted of 22 students. The research was started on January 15th, 2016 until February 5th, 2016. This Classroom Action Research was conducted in two cycles and each cycle consists of two meeting. The researcher used three research instruments. They were: observation check list, questionnaire, and test. Based on the result of this research, the implementation of Freewriting Method could improve students’ writing skill at the second grade of SMA Negeri 1 Badegan in the 2015/2016 academic year. It was seen from the improvement of students’ percentage test from 59% in cycle I up to 100% in cycle 2. The questionnaire result showed that the students were interested in this method. It was seen from the total of questionnaire 1 was 76% and questionnaire 2 was 86%. The observation check list result showed that the students become active during teaching learning process. It was seen from the total of observation checklist cycle 1 was 56% up to 83% in cycle 2. Finally, the researcher suggests that teacher should be creative in organizing the class and hopes that the next researcher can develop this method by using various kinds of the media to get the better result in teaching learning process.
