Abstract

Key Terms: Writing skill, Word Webbing Method English is an International language which is very important to be mastered. Writing is a language skill which is expressed in written form. There were some difficulties that were faced by the students of class X Ak 1. SMK PGRI 1 Ponorogo Students can not write well because they have limited knowledge in English grammar and vocabulary. To improve writing skill the students should have enthusiasm in learning English and know the correct writing process as well. In teaching writing, we use the method that could be applied in the class. The method was Word Webbing Method. The teaching writing through the use a Word Webbing Method motivated students to write confidenly. This research is about how can word webbing method increase students’ writing skill at the tenth grade of SMK PGRI 1 Ponorogo in the academic year of 2015-2016. The subject of this classroom action research was the tenth grade students of SMK PGRI 1 Ponorogo in the academic year of 2015-2016, especially class X AK 1 which consisted of 34 students. The research was started on 5 February, 2016 until 13 February 2016. This research was conducted in two cycles. There were three research instruments that were used in this research. They were observation checklist, questionnaire, and test. Based on the result of this research, the implementation of word webbing method improve students writing skill at the tenth grade of SMK PGRI 1 Ponorogo. There was an improvement between the first cycle and the second cycle. It could be seen from the improvement of average of students’ score from 69.3% up to 100% in cycle II. The questionnaire result showed that students had more knowledge and had enthusiasm to learn so they became more enjoy and active during teaching and learning process. Finally, through the result of this research, it was concluded that by implementing Word Webbing Method, the students writing skill could be improve. Then, the researcher suggestions that English teachers can use Word Webbing Method in teaching writing in the class.
