Abstract
The purpose of this study was to find out how to improve the reading comprehension of eighth grade D students at SMPN 1 Babadan using the Two Stay Two Stray technique. And also to identify what aspects of learning to reading comprehension can be improved. This research used the "classroom action research design." The subject of the research will be conducted in eighth grade D at SMPN 1 Babadan. There are 13 girls and 15 boys in the class. This Classroom Action Research was carried out in two cycles. Each cycle consists of four steps that were planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. Researchers used three research instruments, namely: observation checklists, questionnaires, and tests. Based on the observation checklist results, most students' responses were very active in group discussions, and they were able to manage their class well in the teaching and learning process in reading. This shows that the psychomotor aspect from the results of observations in the first cycle, from 62.5% to 87.5%, was an increase of 20.5%. Furthermore, the affective aspect of the questionnaire result showed that teaching reading comprehension using the two-stay, two-stray technique is very popular because it can increase students' confidence and improve their reading comprehension of recount text. This shows that the questionnaire results were 74.6% in the first cycle and 86.1% in the second cycle, an increase of 11.5%. While the cognitive aspect is seen from the test results in the first cycle, eleven students scored > 75. Furthermore, the results of the second cycle test were all scored > 75, with an average value of 79.3. It means that the Two Stay Two Stray technique could help improve students' reading comprehension of recount text in the D class of eight grade of SMPN 1 Babadan.
