Abstract

Porang (Amorphophallus Muelleri Blume) is one of the leading natural products in most areas in Ponorogo, one of which is in Ngrayun District. In these areas, farmers are competing to grow these plants because they feel it will be more profitable for agricultural products. Due to the large number of farmers who have started to grow porang because it is seen that the price is very expensive per kilogram, the price is decreasing because previously the porang that were traded in small quantities became very easy to find. Seeing this, the idea was created to design a Porang Dryer Oven machine that runs on LPG gas as an alternative for farmers who usually sell their porang harvest while it is still wet, which can be dried first to get a little more income than before. The purpose of planning a porang drying oven with LPG gas fuel which has a capacity of 15 Kg of wet porang chips in one process is to make it easier for users in the porang drying process and improve the quality of dry porang production. With a tool with dimensions of 600 mm x 500 mm x700 mm which results in the time required for the oven process of 15 Kg wet porang chips to dry it takes 14 hours, then the drying rate is 752.26 gr/cm2 minutes at a temperature of 63° Celsius, and the result of oven 15 Kg of wet porang chips yielded 2.29 kg of dry porang chips, which reduced the water content by 85%.
