Abstract

ABSTRACT YUNISA HAYATI MUTMAINAH: The Comparison Effectiveness of Realistic Mathematical Education (RME) Approach and Scientific Approach Viewed Numerical Literacy Ability of Class XI Students. Thesis. Ponorogo: Mathematics Education Study Program, University of Muhammadiyah Ponorogo, 2022. The low numeracy ability of student because student are’nt used to practicing analysis and reasoning real problem and passive in classroom learning. The constructivist approach can be an alternative approach to evaluate students’ numeracy literacy ability. This study aims to describe the comparison effectiveness of RME (Realistic Mathematical Education) approach and the scientific approach on the numeracy literacy ability of class XI students at MA Wali Songo Ngabar. This research is a quantitative research with a quasi-experimental method. The design in this study was a posttest only group design. The population of this study were all students of class XI MA Wali Songo Ngabar which consisted of eight classes. Of the eight classes, two classes were taken randomly, namely class XI A and class XI B for the application of the treatment. Class XI A which consists of 22 students is treated with the RME approach and class XI B which consists of 23 students is treated with a scientific approach. The data collection technique was done by giving posttest questions on numeracy literacy abilities. The data analysis technique is to compare the effect of the RME approach and scientific approach with descriptive analysis and independent t-test. The results showed the average numeracy literacy ability of the RME approach class was 34.4 and the scientific approach class was 25.4 with a difference in value of 9. Analysis through the t-test at a significance level of =0.05 showed that the RME approach was better than the scientific approach on the numeracy literacy abilities of grade students. XI.
